Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise engineering personnel, including Port Engineers and shoreside mechanics, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
- Oversee all preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities across the fleet to ensure vessels remain in optimal condition.
- Manage drydock projects, shipyard periods, and major repair programs with a focus on safety, quality assurance, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections to verify compliance with internal standards and regulatory agencies such as USCG, ABS, and SMS.
- Collaborate with Operations and Safety teams to coordinate maintenance schedules with vessel deployment needs.
- Develop, monitor, and manage annual and long-term maintenance budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
- Review and approve maintenance work orders, requisitions, invoices, and supply purchases to maintain operational integrity and cost control.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate maintenance records utilizing company software to ensure audit readiness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency repairs, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Support troubleshooting efforts and root-cause analysis for complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Prepare and update Safety Management System (SMS) documentation as required by regulatory standards.
- Oversee procurement of materials, parts, and vendor services to maintain a cost-effective supply chain.
- Provide input on vessel design, modifications, and construction projects to optimize performance and safety.
- Uphold the company's mission, vision, and values through strong leadership, clear communication, and operational integrity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or graduate from a maritime academy; equivalent experience considered.
- 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in marine engineering, vessel maintenance, or heavy industrial settings.
- Proven leadership in managing multi-level technical teams, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Deep knowledge of marine diesel engines, propulsion systems (including Z-drives), electrical systems, and pertinent regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills, with the ability to conduct vessel inspections and documentation accurately.
