Overview
Taylor Marine Construction, Inc. is seeking a qualified and dependable Towing Vessel Captain to operate a well-maintained, twin-screw, 600 HP day-boat in support of ongoing marine construction operations. The vessel is currently undergoing a full overhaul and will be placed into excellent mechanical and material condition upon completion. The boat is fully air‑conditioned and heated for year‑round comfort. The Captain will work alongside one deckhand and ensure safe, efficient barge movements within the Enterprise Products facilities in Jacinto-port, Houston.
Responsibilities
- Operate a 600 HP twin-screw push boat for daily marine construction support.
- Move and position a 60’ x 140’ crane barge and a 40’ x 80’ material barge around Enterprise Products dock areas.
- Maintain strict adherence to USCG regulations, facility rules, and safe vessel-handling practices.
- Conduct all required daily vessel inspections, including engine oil and fluid checks, packing gland adjustments, and general condition checks.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and trash-free vessel and barge fleet. This boat is being restored to a very high standard and is expected to remain in excellent condition.
- Uphold a strict no-smoking policy inside the vessel.
- Provide clear communication with the deckhand and project management team.
Work Schedule & Duration
- Approximately 5-month project duration.
- 6 days per week, 12-hour shifts.
- Strong potential for long-term or permanent hire, as additional work is scheduled following this assignment.
Expected hours: 72 per week
