Position Overview
The Production Control role is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure efficient production flow, on-time delivery, and optimal inventory levels. This position works closely with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to balance demand and capacity, manage material availability, and resolve production constraints. The role plays a critical part in maintaining schedule adherence, improving operational efficiency, and supporting overall business objectives through effective production planning and control.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Master Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and execute daily and weekly production schedules to align factory output with customer delivery commitments and sales forecasts.
- Capacity & Resource Analysis: Continuously analyze machinery capacity, labor availability, and line throughput to optimize floor efficiency and minimize idle time.
- Material Synchronization: Partner closely with Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure raw materials and components are staged and available ahead of schedule, preventing line shutdowns while maintaining lean inventory targets.
- Floor Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor daily production activities in real time to ensure strict adherence to schedules; identify operational bottlenecks and deploy immediate corrective actions to mitigate delays.
- WIP & Inventory Management: Track Work-in-Progress (WIP) and manage inventory levels to balance supply and demand while protecting corporate working capital targets.
- Data Integrity & ERP Management: Maintain meticulous accuracy of all production data, routings, and material movements within the SAP/ERP system.
- NPI Coordination: Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to integrate New Product Introductions (NPI) and engineering changes smoothly into active production schedules.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Coordinate with Quality teams to rapidly clear production holds, and work with Logistics to ensure efficient finished goods movement.
- KPI Reporting: Generate and present high-level production reports—including schedule attainment, labor efficiency, and inventory turns—for leadership review.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Operations, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in production planning, master scheduling, or production control within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Systems Acumen: Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (highly preferring SAP) for material requirements planning, production tracking, and scheduling.
- Technical Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing routings.
- Data Analysis: Highly proficient in data analysis and reporting tools (Advanced Excel, Power BI) to track and analyze KPIs such as schedule adherence, cycle times, and OEE.
- Core Methodologies: Solid understanding of inventory control, demand forecasting, resource allocation, and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma principles.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to manage shifting priorities and work under pressure within a dynamic, fast-growing production environment.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills with a rigorous focus on data precision and process documentation.
