Position Overview
The Production Control role is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure efficient production flow, on-time delivery, and optimal inventory levels. This position works closely with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to balance demand and capacity, manage material availability, and resolve production constraints. The role plays a critical part in maintaining schedule adherence, improving operational efficiency, and supporting overall business objectives through effective production planning and control.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate with Sales and Planning teams to align production plans with forecast and order requirements.
- Monitor daily production activities to ensure adherence to schedules and resolve any disruptions.
- Analyze capacity, labor, and equipment availability to optimize production efficiency.
- Ensure material availability by coordinating closely with Procurement and Inventory teams.
- Manage inventory levels to balance supply, demand, and working capital targets.
- Track and manage work-in-progress (WIP) to maintain smooth production flow.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to minimize delays.
- Maintain accurate production data and update ERP systems accordingly.
- Generate and analyze production reports, including schedule attainment, output, and efficiency metrics.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to support new product introductions (NPI).
- Coordinate with Quality teams to address production holds and ensure timely resolution.
- Provide visibility and communication on production status to stakeholders and leadership.
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient material staging and finished goods movement.
- Support system and process improvements related to planning, scheduling, and production control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or production control within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for production tracking and scheduling.
- Knowledge of inventory management, material requirements planning, and supply chain principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and routings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify bottlenecks and optimize production flow.
- Experience with demand forecasting, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with production KPIs such as schedule adherence, cycle time, OEE, and inventory turns.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) for KPI tracking.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain production schedules that meet customer delivery commitments.
- Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI) and production ramp-ups.
- Ability to implement corrective actions for production delays or supply issues.
- Ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices in production planning.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to maintain accurate records and production documentation.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese is preferred.
