Ministry Function:
The Live Production Director supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by providing direction, coordination, and technical leadership for Convoy of Hope's live production team. This role ensures COH Global Headquarters live events, COH Gathering services, and Adventures are executed with excellence by aligning people, processes, and technical resources across audio, video, lighting, and event production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets the technical and creative direction for Global Headquarters live events and COH Adventures, ensuring consistency, excellence, and alignment with Convoy of Hope's mission and brand.
- Leads onsite event production from planning through execution, including production design, rehearsals, and live-event decision-making.
- Provides leadership and direction to the live production team, establishing clear expectations, priorities, and roles for each event.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for live production outcomes, including technical quality, safety, and team performance.
- Guides production planning by determining appropriate staffing levels, equipment needs, and production scope for events of varying size and complexity.
- Works closely with Marketing & Communications, IT, and other internal COH teams to translate event goals into effective production solutions.
- Coaches and develops production staff through feedback, problem-solving, and hands-on leadership during events and preparation.
- Addresses technical or personnel challenges in real time and makes final calls when adjustments are needed.
- Develops a live production reserve team made up of internal team members, volunteers, and contracted staff to expand the capacity of the live production team.
- Establishes and maintains production processes that support consistency, readiness, and scalability across events.
- Evaluates post-event performance to identify improvements in systems, workflows, and team effectiveness.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Five plus years' experience in live production environments, including video, lighting, and audio operation required. A bachelor's degree in production or equivalent is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams in high-pressure, live-event execution for events of varying size and complexity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of production software such as ProPresenter, Resolume, Disguise, and other relevant tools.
- Strong understanding of live production, including video, lighting, and sound, while ensuring creative and technical requirements are met and following safety guidelines.
- Clear and effective communicator who can align teams before events and provide decisive direction during execution.
- Ability to balance hands-on production involvement with responsibility for team leadership and overall event outcomes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel for events that require live production support up to, but not limited to, 25% of the year.
- Report weekly to Live Production Director on project status, concerns, issues, challenges, and ways to provide solutions.
- Strong analytical abilities in a live production environment with the ability to analyze the needs of Convoy's various departments and collaboratively work to determine solutions for their production needs.
- Possess a valid driver's license.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the live production team members, as well as volunteers and reserve team/ contractors for live production needs.
