What are the responsibilities and job description for the Microsoft 365 Engineer (W2 ONLY) position at Convergenz?
We are looking for a Senior Microsoft 365 Systems Engineer who’s not only a Microsoft technology expert but also a trusted mentor, customer champion, and innovation catalyst.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines deep technical skill with a passion for customer success. You’ll architect cutting-edge Microsoft-based solutions and modernize infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Deliver: Lead architecture, design, and implementation of Microsoft-centric solutions across internal and external environments.
- Be the Expert: Act as the go-to resource for all things Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra, Exchange Online, Intune, and Microsoft Defender.
- Automate the Mundane: Streamline operations through PowerShell, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions.
- Secure & Scale: Apply deep knowledge of endpoint security, conditional access, and infrastructure best practices to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.
- Lead Projects: Drive engineering projects end-to-end—from discovery to deployment—while collaborating closely with business and technical stakeholders.
- Innovate Constantly: Evaluate and integrate new technologies to keep our IT stack fresh, effective, and aligned with business goals.
- Be the Voice of IT: Interface with leadership, users, and partners to champion IT strategy and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- 7 years in senior IT engineering roles with deep expertise in Microsoft environments
- Experience integrating SaaS software into a Microsoft environment
- Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Enterprise Apps
- Strong expertise in Endpoint Management (Intune/MEM) and Microsoft Defender Suite
- Proficient with automation tools: PowerShell scripting, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions
- Solid grasp of conditional access policies, identity management, and modern security principles
- 8 years total experience in systems administration, cybersecurity, or systems engineering
- Proven track record leading complex IT projects through full lifecycle
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and team collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Certifications in Microsoft/Azure/Google platforms
- Experience with Tesira Biamp, Crestron, NEAT, or other Audio/Visual Systems
- Experience implementing IT controls in accordance with NIST, ISO, and CMMC standards
- Experience in multi-cloud environments and system migrations
- Familiarity with federal compliance and high-availability infrastructure

Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
