The Material Program Specialist coordinates materials for programs from development through shipment. This includes assisting with engineering releases, tracking procurement activities, supporting production scheduling, and ensuring quality test requirements are met. You'll play a key role in helping the team stat on schedule and within budget, while learning the fundamentals or program execution. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program coordination, supply chain operations, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program management to ensure timely delivery of materials and support successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating material flow from engineering release to final shipment.
  • Support communication between engineering, supply chain, and production teams
  • Track purchase orders, delivery timelines, and supplier updates
  • Help identify long-lead items and critical parts early in the project lifecycle
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and cross-functional meetings
  • Maintain records of material movement and inventory status
  • Support the development of Material Program Plans and Strategies
  • Monitor basic performance metrics related to cost, schedule, and quality
  • Assist in reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs) and supplier documentation
  • Learn to interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawing trees, and technical documents.
  • Coordinate process improvement activities supporting material and program strategies
  • Analyze material budget forecasting monthly
  • Assist in executing material strategies supporting make/buy decisions
  • Collaborating with procurement and program team driving strategic supplier relationships
  • Support material and supplier risk strategies through collaboration with quality, engineering, and production

Qualifications

  • 2 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; or an advanced degree without experience
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Familiarity with MRP systems, procurement processes, and basic cost estimating
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to ISO quality procedures and Lean/Six Sigma principles is a plus

The candidate will be required to move across multiple buildings on the property. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
