Constellation Search Group is looking for a Payroll Specialist for a full-time position. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing complex payroll functions for all company employees, including salaried, hourly, and union staff. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and a thorough understanding of payroll processing, collective bargaining agreements, and labor laws.
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for a large, unionized construction workforce, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements to ensure accurate wage calculations and compliance with union-specific terms.
- Manage employee benefits, deductions, and garnishments in compliance with CBAs and relevant laws.
- Ensure accurate reporting and deductions for union dues, health benefits, and other contractual obligations.
- Perform monthly payroll reconciliation to General Ledger accounts.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports, including tax filings and required union reports.
- Handle payroll discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure accurate employee records.
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws and CBA terms.
- Assist with audits and financial report preparations related to payroll.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information discreetly.
- Support payroll system updates and troubleshoot any related issues.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with collective bargaining agreements in a unionized setting, particularly within the construction industry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in processing payroll for a unionized workforce, including understanding of union rules and certified payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws, including tax regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
- Experience with construction software systems like Vista Viewpoint preferred.
