What are the responsibilities and job description for the Locksmith position at Conroe Independent School District?
Perform daily repairs and installation of all locking devices for security of all buildings.
- Demonstrate self motivation and show initiative in workand job-related responsibilities.
- Perform all duties in a skillful and professional manner.
- Maintain and/or install any door hardware.
- Maintain preventative maintenance programs on all locking devices.
- Make duplicate copies of keys.
- Rekey locks.
- Generate first keys.
- Maintain files on District keys.
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.
- Receive and complete work orders electronically.
- Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
- Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Regular attendance.
- Other duties assigned.
- Two verifiable years as a commercial locksmith
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be bondable
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of functions and operation of all locking devices, especially Sargent, Corbin, and Master
- Working knowledge of a master keying structure.
- Basic computer skills working with Office 365
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposed to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent District wide travel.
