Senior Injection Mold Maker – 1st Shift
Location: Fitchburg, MA
Pay: $40.00–$55.00/hr., based on experience
Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
We are seeking an experienced Senior Injection Mold Maker for a hands-on tooling position supporting precision plastic injection molding.
The right candidate will have extensive experience building, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex injection molds. This position requires strong toolroom machining skills and a detailed understanding of mold construction, fit, function, cooling, and ejection.
Responsibilities
- Build, fit, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair precision injection molds
- Perform engineering changes, preventive maintenance, refurbishments, and mold modifications
- Diagnose tooling problems and implement corrective actions
- Machine mold components using manual and CNC toolroom equipment
- Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM equipment
- Inspect mold components and verify tight-tolerance dimensions
- Work with cores, cavities, slides, lifters, ejector systems, cooling circuits, and mold actions
- Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD-generated prints
- Assemble and test molds for fit, function, cooling, and ejection
- Support mold sampling, qualification, and production
- Document tooling repairs, changes, inspections, and improvements
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Tooling, and Production
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of hands-on mold-making experience
- Plastic injection molding tooling experience
- Demonstrated ability to build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot injection molds
- Strong knowledge of injection mold construction and function
- Experience operating mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and precision measurement skills
- Ability to work independently
- High school diploma or GED
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Tool-and-die apprenticeship or technical trade-school training
- SolidWorks, Mastercam, or comparable CAD/CAM experience
- Medical-device or regulated-manufacturing experience
- Tight-tolerance precision tooling experience
- Knowledge of mold design, manufacturability, and tooling optimization
