CNC Technician – 2nd Shift

Pay Rate:

• Level I: $22.00–$23.00 per hour $1.25 shift differential
• Level II: $25.00 per hour $1.25 shift differential

Location: East Providence, RI
Duration: Temp-to-Perm
Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking CNC Technicians to join a manufacturing team supporting machining and metal component production. These positions are responsible for operating and monitoring machining equipment, finishing parts, performing quality inspections, and ensuring production standards are met.

Both entry-level and experienced opportunities are available. Level I focuses on deburring, finishing, and inspection of machined components, while Level II requires additional experience with machine setup, CNC operation, troubleshooting, and quality control.

CNC Technician – Level I

Job Summary

The CNC Technician I is responsible for finishing CNC-machined components by removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections. This position requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow technical instructions and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect CNC-machined parts for burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections.
• Perform deburring and finishing using hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment such as grinders, sanders, and tumblers.
• Follow work instructions, blueprints, and quality specifications.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Properly handle and protect parts to prevent damage during finishing.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Work collaboratively with machine operators and quality personnel to address production or quality concerns.
• Assist with operating multiple machines or equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Manufacturing or machining experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Basic knowledge of measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers is a plus.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Trade school or machining apprenticeship.
• Experience with CNC milling or CNC lathe equipment.
• Basic tool repair knowledge.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
• Ability to safely handle materials and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Work environment may include moderate to loud noise levels.
• Must be able to work safely around machinery and production equipment.

CNC Technician – Level II

Job Summary

The CNC Technician II is responsible for setting up and operating manual machining equipment, monitoring CNC machining centers, and performing quality inspections to ensure components meet specifications. This role requires prior machining experience, technical knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, and programming issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machining equipment with minimal supervision.
• Operate equipment such as cold saws, sandblasting tools, CNC lathes, and milling machines.
• Monitor CNC milling and turning operations to ensure parts meet blueprint and inspection specifications.
• Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, comparators, plug gauges, and thread gauges.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and inspection sheets.
• Perform full quality inspections and accurately document measurements and results.
• Maintain production efficiency while meeting established quality and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, and program issues.
• Apply proper machining and workmanship techniques to maintain consistent quality.
• Organize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a timely manner.
• Work collaboratively with team members and assist with operating multiple machines or manual equipment simultaneously.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and production guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating production or machining equipment.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming.
• Basic computer navigation skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Multi-axis CNC lathe experience highly preferred.
• CNC lathe and milling experience.
• Completed trade school or machining apprenticeship.
• Welding experience.
• Ability to make, maintain, and repair tools.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Ability to stand for extended periods and work around manufacturing equipment.
• Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching may be required.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
• Must consistently follow safety procedures when operating machinery and handling materials.
