Sales Manager, Public Sector Inside Sales – Remote in South Dakota

Connection is seeking a Sales Manager to lead an inside sales team supporting Public Sector customers across State and Local Government, Higher Education, and K-12 Education, also known as SLED. This remote role is based in South Dakota and is ideal for a sales leader who enjoys coaching teams, improving performance, managing pipeline and deal strategy, and helping customers solve business challenges through technology solutions.


About the Role

As Sales Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of a remote inside sales team made up of Account Managers and Sales Support Representatives. You’ll support team development, monitor sales performance, guide pipeline and deal management, collaborate with vendors and internal partners, and serve as the first point of support for customer, pricing, process, and system-related questions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Account Managers and Sales Support Representatives through feedback, training, one-on-one coaching, and skill development.
  • Observe sales activities, including customer calls and cold calling efforts, to identify coaching opportunities and improve team performance.
  • Partner with Sales Coaches to support new hire development and onboarding success.
  • Track progress toward monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals and help team members stay focused on results.
  • Conduct business reviews with Account Managers to evaluate account strategy, pipeline health, performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Support pipeline management, deal strategy, vendor engagement, customer involvement, sound decision-making, and profitability management.
  • Serve as the first line of support for logistics, customer issues, pricing inquiries, system questions, process guidance, and issue escalation.
  • Manage daily team operations, including timecard accuracy, attendance concerns, performance evaluations, interviewing, hiring, and team member support.
  • Participate in sales meetings and training to stay current on sales skills, technology solutions, public sector needs, and industry trends.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience in inside sales, outbound sales, account management, account executive, or technology sales environments.
  • Experience working with technology solutions, including hardware, software, cloud solutions, IT services, or related offerings.
  • Ability to coach sales professionals, provide constructive feedback, and help team members improve performance.
  • Strong understanding of business development, pipeline management, account strategy, customer relationship management, and sales operations.
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities within an existing customer base.
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to support purchasing agreements that meet customer and business needs.
  • Experience using a CRM system and understanding how CRM activity connects with sales operations or order management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to document activity, manage priorities, anticipate issues, and monitor performance against deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing or coaching inside sales teams.
  • Experience in Public Sector sales, SLED sales, IT channel sales, technology sales, or a value-added reseller environment.

Total Compensation ranges from $100,000 to 120,000 OTE
