A fast-paced, professional, and growing scaffolding/plank manufacturing operation is seeking a Working Shop Supervisor to lead daily plant operations. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can balance team leadership with production responsibilities.
Position Overview
The Shop Supervisor will oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensure efficiency and safety, maintain quality standards, and support a productive team environment. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and the ability to work alongside the team when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all areas of plant operations and workflow
- Ensure proper tooling and equipment availability
- Maintain and order shop supplies as needed
- Keep equipment in safe, working condition
- Monitor production for efficiency and quality control
- Train, support, and develop employees
- Maintain accurate production and personnel reports
- Proactively manage production schedules to prevent delays
- Enforce safety standards and company policies
- Conduct daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks)
- Ensure compliance with product specifications and industry standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
- Minimum 2 year of supervisory experience (Required)
- Lumber or wood manufacturing experience (Required)
- Computer literacy (reporting and documentation) (Required)
- Basic math skills (fractions, decimals) (Required)
Language:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) REQUIRED
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Certifications:
- Forklift Certification (required or must obtain upon hire)
- Wood Grader Certification (preferred – training available)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
- Comfortable working around machinery and sawdust
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments
- Must follow all safety protocols at all times
Job Details
- Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday (rotating shifts)
- 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts available
- Overtime and weekend work as needed
