Key Responsibilities
- Custom Crating: Design and construct custom wooden shipping crates, boxes, and heavy-duty skids for industrial equipment.
- Fabrication: Use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery to cut, shape, and assemble timber.
- Material Selection: Choose appropriate lumber sizes and strengths to secure cargo while optimizing costs.
- Securing Cargo: Properly block and brace materials on skids or within crates to prevent movement during transport.
- Warehouse Duties: Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Repair: Perform repairs on damaged containers or shipping materials.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in rough or industrial carpentry, with an emphasis on crating or framing.
- Ability to read measurements and calculate project materials.
- Proficiency with power saws, hammers, and other carpentry tools.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a warehouse environment.
Work Environment
- This is a hands-on position, usually located in a warehousing/industrial environment.
