Join our established team as a Residential Roofing Journeyman and put your expertise to work on high-quality roofing projects. We're looking for a skilled, safety-conscious professional with proven experience in residential roof installation, repair, and replacement. As a Journeyman, you'll work independently and alongside crew members to deliver top-tier workmanship, while also helping mentor apprentices and uphold our standards for quality and safety. This is a full-time, paid position with competitive wages and opportunities for advancement into lead or foreman roles.
Duties
- Install, repair, and replace residential roofing systems, including asphalt shingles, metal, and flat/low-slope roofing, with minimal supervision
- Perform complete tear-offs of existing roofs, deck inspection and repair, and installation of underlayment, flashing, drip edge, and ventilation systems
- Diagnose leaks and roof damage, determine appropriate repair methods, and execute repairs to code and manufacturer specifications
- Read and interpret work orders, measurements, and job specifications to plan material needs and workflow
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, ladders, and scaffolding safely and efficiently
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, local building codes, and company safety protocols, including proper fall protection
- Mentor and direct apprentices and laborers on the job site, modeling safe practices and quality workmanship
- Communicate with supervisors and, when needed, homeowners regarding project status, unexpected issues, and change orders
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, including proper material handling and debris disposal
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on residential roofing experience (journeyman-level proficiency)
- Expert knowledge of roofing materials, installation techniques, and repair methods for common residential systems (asphalt shingle experience required; metal and flat roofing a plus)
- Thorough understanding of flashing, waterproofing, ventilation, and building code requirements
- Proficiency with roofing tools and equipment, including nail guns, saws, ladders, and scaffolding
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting and working at heights in various weather conditions
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete projects to spec and on schedule
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude, with willingness to train and mentor less experienced crew members
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
