What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Business Development position at Confidential?
Vice President of Sales & Business Development
RV, Manufactured Housing and Specialty Hardware
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are a profitable, established hardware company generating approximately $25 million in annual revenue. We have the capital, infrastructure, inventory capabilities, and ownership commitment necessary to support substantial growth.
We are not looking for someone to simply maintain an existing sales organization. We are looking for an exceptional, hands-on commercial leader who can help us build a $50 million company.
The Vice President of Sales & Business Development will have the authority and resources to develop the strategy, build the team, open major accounts, expand into adjacent markets, and create a disciplined sales organization capable of delivering sustained, profitable growth.
For the right person, this is more than a salaried executive position. We are prepared to offer substantial performance-based compensation and meaningful long-term upside tied directly to the profitable growth and value they help create.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
We supply hardware, fasteners, and related products to customers in the recreational vehicle, manufactured housing, mobile home, specialty vehicle, distribution, and related markets.
Our company has an established customer base, strong supplier relationships, significant industry experience, and the financial resources to invest in inventory, people, product development, and strategic opportunities.
We believe the foundation is in place for significant expansion. We are seeking the commercial leader capable of turning that opportunity into measurable results.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Sales & Business Development will be responsible for leading the company's overall sales and growth strategy.
This individual will assess the current sales organization, strengthen existing customer relationships, identify new markets and product opportunities, recruit and develop sales talent, improve sales accountability, and personally participate in winning major strategic accounts.
The successful candidate will be both a strategic executive and a hands-on business builder. This is not a position for someone who only manages through layers of staff.
The person must be comfortable meeting customers, traveling, negotiating major programs, coaching salespeople, analyzing account profitability, and taking direct responsibility for results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to grow the company from approximately $25 million to $50 million in profitable annual revenue.
- Identify and pursue major OEM, distributor, dealer, and strategic account opportunities.
- Expand sales within the RV, manufactured housing, mobile home, specialty vehicle, building products, and related hardware markets.
- Identify adjacent markets, new product categories, private-label opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
- Build, manage, motivate, and hold accountable a high-performing sales and business development team.
- Evaluate the existing sales structure and recommend appropriate changes in personnel, territories, compensation, reporting, and account responsibility.
- Personally participate in developing and closing major accounts and high-value opportunities.
- Strengthen relationships with existing customers and increase the company's share of their business.
- Create a disciplined sales pipeline, forecasting process, CRM structure, and performance reporting system.
- Establish clear sales objectives, activity standards, account plans, and performance metrics.
- Work closely with ownership, purchasing, operations, sourcing, customer service, finance, and product teams.
- Ensure that growth is achieved with appropriate margins, payment terms, inventory levels, and operational support.
- Analyze customer, product, territory, and salesperson profitability to improve decision-making.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and strategic negotiations.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and retain strong sales and business development professionals.
- Provide ownership with clear, accurate, and actionable reporting on sales performance, pipeline, opportunities, risks, and resource requirements.
