Job Summary:
Transportation Routing & Logistics Coordinator
A growing logistics and distribution organization on Long Island is seeking an experienced Transportation Routing & Logistics Coordinator to join our operations team. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating daily delivery routes, supporting field drivers, and ensuring efficient movement of goods to customer locations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment where priorities can shift quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage daily delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient service to customers
- Optimize route planning to balance service commitments, driver productivity, and transportation costs
- Coordinate with drivers and internal departments to address delivery questions and operational needs
- Monitor past route performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and on-time delivery metrics
- Prepare route documentation, driver manifests, and loading schedules for daily operations
- Maintain and update routing data and operational records used for planning and performance tracking
- Assist with resolving delivery issues and communicating updates to internal stakeholders
- Support backhaul opportunities and efficient use of equipment when applicable
- Review route performance and highlight discrepancies or improvement opportunities
- Assist with mileage reporting, driver documentation, and operational compliance needs as required
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in transportation routing, dispatch, or logistics coordination
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operations environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Comfortable working with routing software, spreadsheets, and operational systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with drivers and internal teams
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Schedule
This position typically works Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM, with flexibility depending on operational needs.
