Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Toddler Teacher to join our Montessori classroom on a temporary 30-day assignment to cover a staff leave. This role involves guiding children ages 18–36 months in a consistent and thoughtfully-prepared environment that supports independence, language development, and early social skills.
The ideal candidate is confident stepping into an established classroom, maintaining routines, and providing continuity of care for both children and families.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm (on-site set schedule)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a toddler classroom in alignment with Montessori principles and existing classroom routines
- Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment
- Support children’s independence, movement, and language through age-appropriate activities
- Provide attentive supervision and responsive caregiving throughout daily routines (meals, toileting, naps, transitions)
- Observe and support children’s developmental progress
- Ensure smooth day-to-day classroom operations with minimal disruption during staff absence
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians as needed
- Collaborate with assistants and school staff to maintain consistency and continuity
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 ECE units from an accredited college, including Infant/Toddler coursework required for toddler classrooms in California
- Prior experience as a lead or co-teacher in a toddler classroom preferred
- Montessori training or experience is a plus
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Must meet all requirements set by the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division, including background clearance and health requirements
All candidates must complete Live Scan fingerprinting in accordance with California state requirements prior to employment.

Our school is easy to reach by freeway and located among the Montclair hills. Ample free employee parking is available. We offer a competitive pay range of $21.50-24.50/hr.
Pay: $21.50 - $24.50 per hour
