Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician
Job Specifics and Requirements:
Area: Mobile, AL
Licensure Requirements: Must have open, active, and in good standing Alabama Pharmacy Technician License
Education: H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience Needed: 1 year in a sterile environment
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay: $20.00 Flexible
Background/ Drug Requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check, health and drug screen
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare sterile compounds and medications in a clean room environment
- Follow USP <797> and <800> guidelines for sterile compounding
- Maintain aseptic technique during all stages of preparation
- Perform calculations to ensure accurate measurement and mixing of ingredients
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as laminar flow hoods and autoclaves
- Document all compounding activities and maintain accurate records
- Assist in inventory management of medications and supplies
- Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure quality and accuracy of compounded medications
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control processes
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Monitor temperature and humidity in clean room and storage areas
- Assist in training new staff members on sterile compounding procedures
- Stay updated on current compounding regulations and best practices
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients as needed
- Participate in continuous education and training programs
- Assist in managing hazardous drug handling and disposal
- Contribute to the development and improvement of standard operating procedures
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of compounding equipment
- Assist in preparing and packaging final products for dispensing or shipping
