Staff Accountant
Reports To: Controller
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our Finance team with general accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to analyze financial data while ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain standard costs, labor and overhead rates, and product costing accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, cost reports, inventory reports, and variance analyses.
- Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory-related accounts.
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory valuation activities.
- Review and process inventory adjustments and related accounting entries.
- Assist with costing analysis for new and existing products.
- Support external audits and provide requested financial documentation.
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and month-end reporting packages.
- Generate and analyze accounting and operational reports using the company ERP system.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and month-end close processes.
- Knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard costing preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
- Experience working with accounting and ERP systems. (MS Dynamics 365)
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Service teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet monthly deadlines.
About the Role
This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and month-end close responsibilities in a manufacturing environment. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain costing integrity, and support continuous improvement within the Finance function.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
