Senior Property Accountant

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting asset management and executive leadership. This individual will play a key role in improving processes, managing reporting timelines, and leveraging Yardi to drive efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of property-level and corporate accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly close processes
• Manage and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities and properties
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close in accordance with GAAP
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including property accountants and AP/AR personnel
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Coordinate and manage external audits and tax preparation processes
• Prepare and review lender, investor, and ownership reporting packages
• Monitor property budgets, forecasts, and variances in collaboration with asset management teams
• Oversee cash management, including funding requests, distributions, and reconciliations
• Utilize Yardi for financial reporting, system administration, and process optimization
• Partner with senior leadership to support strategic financial initiatives and portfolio performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on property/real estate accounting
• Prior experience in a real estate investment firm, property management company, or developer
• Strong hands-on experience with Yardi (Voyager preferred)
• Deep understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting concepts (CAM reconciliations, accruals, etc.)
• Experience managing multiple entities and complex ownership structures
