Safety Coordinator - Transportation

Position Overview

We are seeking a Safety Coordinator to lead and support our safety initiatives across transportation operations. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies, identifying potential risks, and working with drivers, employees, and management to continuously improve safety performance.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor transportation operations to identify safety risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and workplace observations.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local transportation and workplace safety regulations.
• Provide safety training, orientations, and ongoing education to drivers.
• Communicate safety expectations and regulatory requirements clearly to drivers and employees.
• Track safety performance metrics and identify trends requiring corrective action.
• Assist with developing and implementing corrective and preventative action plans.
• Work closely with operations and management to promote accountability and a proactive safety culture.
• Stay current on changes to safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
• Perform other safety-related duties and projects as needed.
• Assist with accident & incidents investigations

Qualifications

• 3 years previous experience working in an administrative, clerical, safety, compliance, dispatch, fleet management, or operations role within a trucking or transportation company.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation safety regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative and work independently.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to effectively communicate with drivers, employees, and senior management.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and standard computer applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company locations or operating areas as needed.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
