Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role leads cross-functional teams to meet production targets, maintain product quality, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily plant operations including production, packaging, sanitation, and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP).
- Manage production schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resource use.
- Monitor KPIs such as yield, downtime, labor efficiency, and quality metrics.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with quality assurance to ensure consistent product standards.
- Oversee inventory control and raw material usage.
- Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Collaborate with other departments including procurement, logistics, and R&D.
Qualifications and Education
Required
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
· 8 years of experience in food production or manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of food safety standards and quality control processes.
· Leadership and team management skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management systems.
· Experience working on facilities requiring BRC or SQF certification
Preferred
· HACCP certification
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
· Previous supervisory experience in food manufacturing.
Compensation
The pay range for this role takes into account the wide array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,000 - $100,000 per year.
