Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and overall management of the frozen french fry processing plant. This role ensures efficient production, high product quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and continuous improvement across all plant operations. The Operations Manager will work closely with executive leadership, department heads, and external partners to support long-term growth, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Duties
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and execute the plant’s strategic plan aligned with corporate goals and market demand.
Operational Management
- Oversee all plant operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, quality assurance, safety, and logistics.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality processing of frozen french fry products that meet customer standards and specifications forming SOP’s to assure consistent quality.
- Drive operational efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure optimal use of raw materials (e.g., potatoes, oils, packaging).
- Monitor daily production metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial performance goals.
- Analyze operational costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
- Present major capital improvement plans for support and ROI analysis for equipment and infrastructure investments.
Quality, Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all food safety regulations, including USDA, FDA, HACCP, OSHA, and GMP standards.
- Maintain high standards of product quality which will meet all individual customer specifications and oversee continuous improvement of quality systems and the Qality team.
- Support third-party audits, certifications, and regulatory inspections.
Leadership & People Management
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for management teams and plant staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, innovation, and safety.
- Oversee recruitment, performance management, and training programs to develop future plant leaders.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
- Championing a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations and reduce or eliminate safety incidents which directly impacts workers comp.
- Oversee environmental sustainability efforts, including waste management, water usage, and energy conservation.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
- Work closely with corporate executives, growers, suppliers, distributors, and key customers.
- Ensure customer expectations for quality, delivery, and service are consistently met.
- Represent the plant in the community, industry, customer visits and any regulatory or compliance related engagements.
- Lead long-term planning for production capacity, capital investments, and facility improvements.
- Identify growth opportunities, product innovations, and efficiency enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Food Science, Agriculture, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10 years of senior leadership experience in food manufacturing, potato processing, or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, processing equipment, and manufacturing operations.
- Proven ability to lead large teams and manage multimillion-dollar budgets.
- Excellent communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
