Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly through effective communication with insurance providers and patients
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding accuracy for billing purposes
- Manage accounts receivable by tracking outstanding balances and initiating collection efforts for overdue payments
- Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, correspondence, and payment histories for audit readiness
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to bills, insurance claims, and payment optionsRequirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding (including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and healthcare claims management
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and health insurance procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with billing software systems
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and accurately assign appropriate codes such as DRG classifications
- Excellent communication skills for effective interactions with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare staff
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts efficiently
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred
