Duties
- Supervise all machine shop operations, including CNC machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly processes
- Lead and coordinate a team of machinists, welders, and technicians to meet production goals and quality standards
- Develop and implement manufacturing procedures utilizing blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings
- Oversee CNC programming, CAM programming, CNC lathe, milling machines, press brake machines, and other machining equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Maintain and enforce safety protocols related to forklift operation, power tools, hand tools, and fabrication equipment
- Conduct regular inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Manage tooling inventory, fabrication materials, and warehouse logistics to support seamless production flow
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve productivity across the shop floor
- Ensure compliance with quality control standards through rigorous inspection routines and documentation
- Provide training on mechanical knowledge, machining techniques, welding (including MIG welding), use of hand tools, and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Proven experience in manufacturing or machine shop management with strong leadership skills
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, CNC programming (including CAM), and mechanical fabrication processes
- Hands-on experience operating CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, and other machining equipment
- Proficiency in welding techniques such as MIG welding along with fabrication skills using hand tools and power tools
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation control systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately using SolidWorks and similar CAD software
- Strong understanding of quality control methods utilizing micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and process adjustments
- Warehouse experience including inventory management of tooling and raw materials
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to streamline operations and reduce waste
