Interior Engineer (4 Open Roles)
Location: Novi, MI
Work Schedule: TPC – 52 hours/week
Position Overview
Scout Motors is seeking experienced Interior Engineers to support the design and development of automotive interior systems. This role involves end-to-end interior component design, vehicle integration, and collaboration with manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive interior systems from concept through production
- Work as a design engineer on interior components, ensuring compliance with functional, aesthetic, and manufacturing requirements
- Design and development experience with Floor Console and Instrument Panel systems
- Create, modify, and release 3D designs using CATIA V5 and execute design releases in 3DEXPERIENCE PLM
- Support vehicle integration, vehicle packaging, and master section development
- Resolve design-related issues in manufacturing plants and support production launches
- Participate in concept creation, assembly process definition, and design optimization
- Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documentation
- Lead or support Design FMEA, GD&T, and engineering reviews
- Apply knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes to ensure robust designs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive interior systems
- Strong understanding of engineering design and development processes for automotive interiors
- Hands-on experience as a Design Engineer in interior engineering
- High proficiency in CATIA V5
- Experience working within PLM systems, preferably 3DEXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of tooling, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods for interior components
- Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
