Community Program Coordinator - Violence Prevention
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week Compensation: $20 per hour Location: Ventura County, California (onsite with local travel required)
We are a staffing agency seeking a passionate and skilled professional for a direct hire position with our client. Our client is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safer communities and empowering individuals. This role is crucial for developing and implementing programs focused on preventing family and community violence. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, self-motivated individual who can effectively engage with a diverse population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Delivery: Plan, schedule, and facilitate educational workshops and presentations on topics such as teen relationship abuse, family violence, child maltreatment, and human trafficking. This includes delivering evidence-based curricula to various audiences, including youth, parents, educators, and community partners.
- Community & School Outreach: Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with local schools, community organizations, and government agencies. Coordinate outreach events and presentations to raise awareness and promote our client's prevention programs.
- Support & Referrals: Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate support and crisis counseling to individuals identified through outreach activities, and offer referrals to appropriate community-based services.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete all necessary documentation, including program evaluations, data collection, and progress reports.
- Professional Development: Participate in professional trainings, workshops, and community meetings to stay current with best practices in violence prevention and represent our client at relevant community forums.
- Content Creation: Assist with the development of educational materials and digital content for social media and other platforms.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with at least two years of professional experience in social services, public health, or education, specifically in a role involving family systems, violence prevention, or child and family engagement.
- Communication Skills: Strong public speaking and presentation skills are essential, with a proven ability to engage a variety of audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Spanish is a must.
- Relevant Knowledge: Must have a solid understanding of family violence issues and mandated reporting laws. Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.
- Logistics & Flexibility: Requires proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office, Zoom) and the ability to work a flexible schedule, as some nights and weekends may be needed.
- Clearances: Must be able to pass a background and criminal clearance. A valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance are also required.
