DON – Substance Abuse Treatment Facility

Position Summary:
DON support in overseeing the daily operations of the nursing department within a substance abuse treatment facility. This role provides clinical leadership and supervision to Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. The ADON helps ensure compliance with regulatory standards, facility policies, and best practices in behavioral health and addiction treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and supervising nursing staff including RNs and LPNs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical oversight to ensure quality patient care.
- Support staffing coordination, scheduling, and staff development.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring nursing staff.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to support patient treatment plans.
- Assist with development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
- Monitor medication administration practices and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Address patient care concerns and assist with quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in incident review, risk management, and performance improvement processes.
- Provide clinical support and leadership during emergencies or complex patient situations.
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage as required.

Qualifications:
- Current MA Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, or addiction medicine required.
- Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, detoxification, and recovery treatment models.
- Ability to lead and support a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices in behavioral health settings preferred.
