Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression and ensuring a smooth check-in process.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, confirming patient visits, and addressing inquiries promptly.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Athenahealth.
- Collect patient information accurately through intake forms and update electronic health records (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks or other EMR platforms.
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy policies and clinical confidentiality standards.
- Assist with billing processes by understanding medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), Medicare procedures, and medical collections to facilitate accurate claims submission.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating patient flow, managing appointment schedules, and ensuring efficient clinic operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in a dental office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Familiarity with Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Expertise in dental billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), insurance verification processes to ensure accurate financial transactions.
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment; experience with filing, documentation review, and office administration is essential.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies; ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
