Hands-on Controller to serve as the operational leader of accounting and finance across all five legal entities. This is a high-impact, build-and-transform role—not a maintenance position. This role is primarily on-site at a Savannah-area office with consistent hands-on presence required—especially during the onboarding period as you establish relationships, assess existing processes, and implement foundational improvements. Flexibility exists for a seasoned professional, but this is not a remote role. The Controller will work in close partnership with ownership a to build a scalable accounting foundation while operating directly in the day-to-day details.

Financial Close & Reporting
• Own and execute the monthly financial close cycle across all five entities, targeting a 10-business-day close
• Design and implement close processes, account reconciliations, and internal controls that scale with the business
• Produce accurate, reliable monthly financial statements that ownership and leadership can act on with confidence
• Standardize the chart of accounts and establish consistent accounting policies across all entities
Cash Flow & Multi-Entity Accounting
• Manage cash flow proactively, including ownership of 13-week rolling cash forecasting
• Oversee all intercompany accounting, eliminations, and consolidated reporting across entities
• Identify and escalate cash flow risks early, providing actionable recommendations to ownership
Team Leadership
• Lead, develop, and where necessary upgrade the accounting team—setting clear expectations and holding people accountable
• Serve as a hands-on working leader: willing to do the work yourself while simultaneously building the team's capabilities
• Foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement within the finance function
FP&A & Strategic Partnership
• Partner with the Fractional CFO on financial planning, analysis, and executive-level reporting
• Support ownership with financial insights and scenario analysis that inform strategic decision-making
• Serve as a key voice in building the long-term financial infrastructure of the organization
Seasoned accounting leader with real-world experience navigating the complexity of multi-entity, operationally intensive businesses. You are not looking for a slow-paced role—you want to make a visible impact.
Required Qualifications
• 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated leadership
• Prior experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
• Direct experience managing accounting across multiple legal entities
• Deep working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
• Proven ability to implement structure, controls, and processes in evolving or underdeveloped environments
• Track record of leading and developing accounting teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in construction, project-based contracting, or asset-intensive industries
• Familiarity with intercompany eliminations and consolidated financial reporting
• Exposure to cash flow forecasting models in capital-intensive businesses
• CPA designation a plus, but not required for the right candidate
