We are conducting a confidential search for a hands‑on Controller to join a growing, business headquartered in Savannah, GA. This is an on‑site leadership role. This position reports directly into ownership and represents the most senior financial leader in the organization today. The role is intentionally designed for a strong Controller who wants meaningful ownership, visibility, and influence, with the opportunity to grow in scope as the business scales.
The Opportunity
The Controller will own the entire finance and administrative function and serve as a trusted business partner to leadership. This is an operator role—not just technical accounting—requiring someone who can translate numbers into insight, build scalable processes, and support decision‑making in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting and administrative function (AP, AR, payroll, HR admin, office support)
- Own the general ledger and month‑end close; ensure clean, timely, GAAP‑compliant financials
- Prepare internal financial statements, management reporting, KPIs, and leadership summaries
- Design and implement budgeting and forecasting processes from the ground up
- Manage daily cash activity, weekly cash forecasts, AR collections, and payables timing
- Oversee insurance programs, tax compliance, and coordination with external advisors
- Improve internal controls, processes, and system effectiveness (QuickBooks environment)
- Partner closely with Leadership Team to drive performance and visibility
Ideal Background
- 8 years of hands‑on accounting experience, including Controller‑level responsibility
- CPA required and a mix of public and private ideal, but straight public accounting could be considered
- Experience with industrial type companies/industries
- Strong understanding of GAAP, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting
- Advanced Excel proficiency,
- Comfortable working on‑site and being closely involved with operations
- Experience working in small to mid‑sized companies
