Role Summary

We are looking for a Controller to serve as the senior financial leader of a non for profit. This person will have the responsibility for overseeing all financial operations and accounting functions of the organization. This role ensures the highest standards of financial integrity, compliance, and transparency while providing accurate reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial guidance to leadership. The Controller will work in close partnership with the Treasurer, President, Finance Committee, and Executive leadership

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations, including bank accounts, funds, and designated or restricted accounts
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, nonprofit, and industry standards
• Direct and manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, monthly close, and audit readiness
• Oversee payroll, salaries, parsonage, and employee benefits in coordination with external service providers
• Lead the annual budgeting process, cash flow forecasting, and budget-to-actual variance analysis
• Prepare, review, and present regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, budget vs. actual reports, dues, pledges, collections, and capital campaign reporting
• Manage financial reporting related to capital projects and construction, including bank draw requests
• Serve as the primary financial liaison for vendors, members, financial institutions, auditors, and external advisors
• Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement
• Provide fiscal guidance and financial analysis to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee
• Oversee the finance office, including systems, controls, workflows, and the hiring and supervision of finance staff

Qualifications

• Controller-level or senior finance experience, preferably within a nonprofit or multi-fund organization
• Strong working knowledge of accounting systems, payroll, and benefits administration
• Extensive experience using QuickBooks
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
• Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently

Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
