Responsibilities
- Manage the full spectrum of accounting functions including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. Oversee compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Lead the preparation of accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, ensuring clarity and compliance with regulatory reporting standards. Conduct detailed account analysis and account reconciliation processes to maintain precise financial records.
- Supervise cash management activities, including forecasting cash flow needs and managing banking relationships using financial software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency. Collaborate with external auditors during audits and coordinate all audit-related activities with transparency and thoroughness.
- Support budgeting processes by providing insightful financial analysis and forecasting to guide organizational growth strategies.
- Lead and manage admin/accounting teams, including billing, receivables and payables.
Competencies & Qualifications
The controller will be a strategic, yet hands-on business leader, capable of working with finance teams as well as front-line business leaders to develop a plan/budget, setting goals and objectives, and leading the organization to accomplish the plan.
- Proven experience in accounting roles with a strong background in corporate accounting, experience with public accounting is a plus. Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management.
- Proficiency in financial management software including QuickBooks or similar platforms; experience with advanced financial software is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for effective decision-making. Including KPI tracking, variance analysis, effective job costing, and percentage of completion reporting.
- Ability to lead a team effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with business services (for example construction, landscaping, janitorial, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, pest control, security, facilities management, etc.)
- Experience working with field service and/or other operating software that integrates with the accounting software (i.e., LMN, Aspire, Service Titan, etc). Experience in helping front line teams better use technology to drive efficiency, productivity, and better customer experience.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to deal with ambiguity
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA certification is highly desirable.
