Chief Financial Officer

The Chief Financial Officer is the senior executive responsible for the financial health, operating infrastructure, and administrative backbone of the company, and serves as the CEO’s principal thought partner in shaping and executing company strategy and internal staff functions. This is a broader mandate than a traditional CFO role: in addition to owning Finance Operations, Accounting, FP&A, strategic planning, treasury, and tax, this executive will have direct oversight of Procurement and Human Resources. The ideal candidate combines deep financial and accounting rigor with strong commercial and operating acumen — translating financial and operating data into insight that sharpen decision-making across the business — and the operational range to lead, directly or through function heads, finance, accounting, people operations, and vendor/procurement management. This person will bring structure, discipline, and a relentless focus on cost control and operating efficiency to a fast-growing, founder-influenced, private equity-backed business services company, while preserving the speed and client focus that have driven its growth. Prior experience in a PE-backed environment, and comfort serving as a hub connecting finance, HR, and procurement through common data and financial discipline, is strongly preferred.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Finance, Accounting & FP&A

• Own all aspects of corporate finance, accounting, financial planning & analysis, treasury, and tax

• Deliver timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close, along with lender/sponsor reporting packages.

• Partner with the CEO and leadership team to build annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and KPI/operating benchmarks; develop pricing, unit economics, and profitability analytics to support commercial strategy.

• Serve as a trusted business partner to department and functional leaders across the company, translating financial results into clear commercial and operating insight that informs day-to-day decisions, not just after-the-fact reporting.

• Lead cost control and operating efficiency initiatives across the business — identifying, prioritizing, and driving margin- and productivity-improvement opportunities without compromising growth or client experience.

• Monitor cash flow and working capital, manage banking relationships and the treasury function, and maintain the capital structure in coordination with the sponsor and lenders.

• Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP-compliant financial statements; manage the annual audit and tax compliance process with external auditors and advisors.

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team, with a focus on systems modernization (Optimize Sage Intacct ERP, develop AI-enabled reporting tools, etc) and ensure processes enhance scalability as the company grows organically and through potential

M&A. Strategic Planning & Business Partnership

• Lead the annual strategic and operating planning process in partnership with the CEO and executive team, translating company strategy into financial plans, resource allocation, and measurable operating goals.

• Develop and maintain a forward-looking view of the business — market trends, competitive dynamics, and internal performance data — to inform long-range planning, pricing, and investment decisions.

• Own long-range financial modeling and scenario planning to stress-test strategic options and support board, sponsor, and executive decision-making.

• Act as a proactive, embedded partner to the CEO and functional leaders — not solely a steward of financial reporting — bringing a point of view on where the business should invest, cut, or change course.

Human Resources

• Provide executive oversight of the HR function, including compensation and benefits strategy, talent acquisition and retention, performance management systems, and organizational design. • Partner with external PEO and talent lead to ensure people practices and policies support a high-growth, client facing culture, and that HR systems and reporting mature alongside the finance function. Procurement

• Oversee vendor management and procurement strategy, including contract terms, cost management, and vendor risk, to ensure the company is capturing scale efficiencies as it grows. • Standardize procurement policies and approval workflows in coordination with Finance and Legal. Cross-Functional Leadership

• Serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO, functioning as a connective hub across Finance, HR, and Procurement — translating data and financial impact into decisions across the business.

• Champion a culture of cost discipline, accountability, and continuous operating improvement across all functions, setting the tone from the top for how the company manages spend and efficiency.

• Support M&A evaluation and integration activity as the company considers inorganic growth opportunities.

• Represent the company in sponsor, lender, and board-level communications on financial and operational performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline required; MBA or advanced degree a plus.

• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive finance/accounting leadership, including at least five (5) years in a senior finance role (CFO, unit head of finance); experience in a private equity-backed, consulting or professional services, or B2B technology-adjacent business strongly preferred.

• Deep expertise in FP&A and strategic/long-range planning, including budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and KPI development, with a demonstrated ability to turn financial and operating data into commercial insight that shapes business decisions.

• Proven track record of leading cost control and operating efficiency initiatives — improving margin, productivity, or unit economics in a growing organization.

• Demonstrated experience owning or partnering closely with HR and/or Procurement functions, either through direct oversight or as a trusted cross-functional executive partner.

• CPA preferred; alternatively, comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles and experience managing business service multinational accounting environments.

• Experience with modern financial systems and reporting tools (Sage Intacct helpful), and a track record of leading process and systems upgrades (ERP implementation/optimization, reporting automation) in a growing organization.
