Our client is seeking an experienced Assitant Controller to join their Irvine, CA team.
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of their clients' IOLTA funds by monitoring trust accounts, keeping meticulous records of all accounts and transactions, and reconciling trust accounts against the bank statements alongside the controller. The Assistant Controller must also review financial documents for discrepancies, unauthorized transactions, or errors, and must maintain proper trust-account records, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
This person must adhere to the highest standards of accounting best practices to ensure clients’ interests and business’s reputations are protected. You will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements. This role requires an individual with a passion for accounting and finance who can contribute to the success of the founding Partners.
Responsibilities: Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis • Prepare and present accurate financial reports to senior management and stakeholders • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and company policies • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, including financial statement preparation and analysis • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and cost efficiencies • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred • 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards • Proficient in financial management systems and advanced MS Excel skills • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Experience in IOLTA accounting is a huge plus.
