Join a rapidly expanding multi-state restaurant group with 29 locations and four commissary kitchens operating across Washington, Oregon, California, and Texas. We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager / Buyer to strengthen our supply chain and support continued growth while upholding the high product standards our brands are known for.
Position Summary
As Purchasing Manager, you will lead sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of food ingredients, packaging, equipment, and operating supplies for our restaurants and commissary kitchens. This role demands proven expertise in the restaurant, foodservice, or food manufacturing industries, including deep knowledge of ingredient sourcing, distributor relationships, and multi-unit operational requirements across multiple states.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled in vendor management, cost control, and ensuring consistent product quality and availability for a growing hospitality operation.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing and Procurement
- Source, evaluate, and purchase food ingredients, packaging, equipment, and operating supplies to support multi-state restaurant and commissary operations.
- Maintain accurate product lists, pricing files, vendor records, and order guides.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with commissary and restaurant teams to ensure product availability without shortages or overstock.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers.
- Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and lead times to optimize supply chain efficiency.
Vendor and Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and regional suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, reliability, service, and cost metrics.
- Onboard new suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure competitive quotes.
- Coordinate effectively with national broadline distributors including Sysco and US Foods, as well as produce and specialty vendors.
Quality, Compliance, and Operations Support
- Ensure all procured products meet company quality standards, food safety requirements, and brand specifications.
- Partner with commissary and operations teams to resolve quality issues and manage substitutions when needed.
- Support product testing, cuttings, and evaluations for new ingredients or menu changes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Marketing, and Commissary teams on new store openings, menu updates, and promotional launches.
- Collaborate with Accounting and AP to verify invoices, resolve discrepancies, and maintain pricing accuracy.
- Assist Supply Chain leadership with demand forecasting using historical data and seasonal trends.
Qualifications
- 5 years of purchasing experience in the restaurant, foodservice, or food manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record sourcing food ingredients, packaging, and operations supplies.
- Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated vendor management expertise.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; experience with ERP or inventory management systems such as Toast, Extrachef, Odoo, or R365 is preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Experience working with national and regional distributors including Sysco and US Foods.
- Strong preference for candidates with restaurant inventory systems experience, particularly R365.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, ingredients, commissary production, and supply chain processes.
- Multi-unit restaurant purchasing experience is required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
