Job Summary
The Credit & Treasury Manager is responsible for managing the organization’s credit activities and department as well as assist with Cash Management and Cash Forecasting.
Job Description
- Manages credit approval process, including but not limited to processing credit applications and initiating inquiries into customer’s bank and trade references.
- Assesses the creditworthiness of potential customers, including establishing payment terms and credit limits; handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment.
- Assist with the development of cash flow forecasts including projected receivable/payable activity to anticipate short term liquidity needs.
- Analyze forecasted variances including trends and deviations between actual and forecast cash flows and provide insights to aid in decision making around funding and cash allocation.
- Provide necessary financial information to ensure compliance with bank agreements.
- Direct follow-up on customer short pay or billing disputes.
- Responds to credit inquiries from other companies.
- Maintains customer payment histories and adjusts customer credit limits and terms as necessary.
- Reviews the DSO, aging report and coordinates collection of past due amounts.
- Analyzes credit data and financial statements of individuals or businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in lending money or extending credit.
- Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity. Assist with investigation of discrepancies.
- Establishes and maintains customer credit files and/or database; continually reviews customers’ credit histories and adjusts customer credit limits and terms as necessary.
- Reviews collections reports to ascertain status of collections and outstanding balances and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
- Audits delinquent accounts to ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad debt status to account.
- Assists with the establishment and implementation of credit policy; recommends adjustments as needed.
- Ensure liens as well as bonds are in place were appropriate.
- Composes reports detailing the degree of risk involved in credit request; recommends approval or denial based on results.
- Sets minimum or maximum terms of repayment for customers based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity.
- Resolves customer complaints and verifies transactions through consultation.
- Establishes and implements procedures to achieve monthly collection goals; monitors collection activities and assists when appropriate.
- Interfaces with appropriate personnel and managers to exchange information and update records and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Establishes, implements, and monitors credit policy; makes and communicates adjustments as needed.
- Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops credit team
- Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
- Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
- Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting plus six years related experience
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Acute attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method
