Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented part time Precertification/Surgery Scheduling Assistant to join our highly esteemed private practice specializing in Plastic Surgery. In this vital role, you will work in tandem with our surgery scheduler to prepare patients for their procedures. The core duties include:
- Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to create precertification requests.
- Initiate and submit the prior authorization requests to insurance companies ensuring all clinical documentation and forms are complete prior to their procedure.
- Verify patient eligibility, coverage limitations, deductibles and copays. Estimate the patient's financial responsibility for both insurance and cosmetic surgery procedures.
- Schedule patient's utilizing our Nextech EHR medical software.
- Collect the patient financial responsibility prior to their scheduled procedure.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with healthcare software, EHR systems (Nextech experience a plus), and medical terminology. Prior medical billing, surgery scheduling or Certified Professional Coder preferred.
Coding Literacy: A foundational understanding of standard code sets (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: This roles serves to bridge the gap between complex insurance policies, healthcare providers, and patients. Compassion and the ability to succinctly explain/educate our patients about their particular health care plan coverages is vital.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
