Company:
A private equity-backed, multi-location construction services (subcontractor) platform operating across several high-growth U.S. markets. The business delivers specialized field services tied to large-scale commercial construction projects and partners closely with major general contractors on complex, multi-site builds.
Purpose Of Your Position:
This role is designed for a senior sales leader who has directly sold into general contractors at a regional and national level (working for a subcontractor performing the work) and understands how to navigate complex construction buying cycles.
You will be responsible for building and expanding enterprise-level GC relationships, driving multi-market revenue opportunities, and creating a repeatable strategy to penetrate and grow key contractor accounts across geographies.
This is a highly visible leadership role focused on originating opportunities through GC relationships, not estimating or project execution.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish and execute a national strategy targeting regional and large-scale general contractors across multiple markets
- Build and maintain direct relationships with GC decision-makers across preconstruction, procurement, operations, and executive leadership
- Identify and prioritize key contractor accounts, developing structured plans to expand share of wallet
- Drive multi-location engagement by connecting field teams with GC opportunities across regions
- Generate new project opportunities through proactive relationship development with contractors
- Lead discussions around preferred vendor status, national agreements, and long-term partnerships
- Partner with regional leadership to align on pursuit strategy while maintaining enterprise-level visibility
- Ensure consistent pipeline tracking, accountability, and follow-through across a distributed sales organization
- Coach and guide sales teams on how to effectively engage and grow contractor relationships
- Represent the organization in industry settings to strengthen brand presence within the GC community
Requirements:
- 10 years of experience in construction-related business development or sales leadership
- Proven, direct experience selling into general contractors (non-negotiable) as a subcontractor - this should be in line with services such as commerical HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc - not product based sales
- Track record of building relationships that lead to repeat project work with regional or national GCs
- Experience navigating complex construction sales cycles, including preconstruction and bid phases
- Background in specialty contracting or subcontracted services environments
- Experience managing or influencing multi-region or national accounts
- Strong commercial instincts with the ability to translate relationships into revenue
- Willingness to travel regularly to support relationship development and market expansion
Preferred:
- Experience within subcontractor or specialty trade environments
- Exposure to multi-site or multi-entity service organizations
- Familiarity with enterprise agreements or contractor partnership structures
- Existing relationships with general contractors across high-growth U.S. regions
Salary : $180,000 - $250,000
