Overview
We are seeking an Interim CFO for a private equity-backed, middle-market commercial services company (>$100M in revenue) located near Irwindale, CA
This is a hands-on, operational role suited for a finance leader who can operate both strategically and tactically. The company is at an inflection point, requiring strong financial leadership to assist with stabilizing performance, executing cost reduction initiatives, and helping to reposition the business for renewed growth.
The CFO will serve as a key partner to the CEO and investors, helping drive accountability, visibility, and improved decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Execution
- Lead all aspects of finance and accounting, including financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, and controls
- Provide clear, timely, and actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management with a focus on accuracy and accountability
- Ensure integrity of financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and lender requirements
Turnaround & Performance Improvement
- Partner with the CEO and private equity sponsors to execute cost optimization and margin improvement initiatives
- Develop and implement KPIs and performance metrics across business units
- Identify operational inefficiencies and drive corrective actions
- Support revenue stabilization efforts through pricing analysis, customer profitability, and contract review
Cash Flow & Liquidity Management
- Drive disciplined cash management, including forecasting, working capital optimization, and liquidity planning
- Manage banking relationships and ensure compliance with debt covenants
- Improve collections processes and overall cash conversion
Team Leadership & Infrastructure
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team
- Assess current team capabilities and upgrade talent as needed
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and processes
- Build scalable infrastructure to support future growth
Desired Qualifications
- 15 years of progressive finance experience, including prior CFO/Head of Finance role in a middle market company
- Experience in a private equity-backed or highly performance-driven environment
- Background in commercial services, field services, or multi-site operations
- Proven track record of driving cost reduction, margin improvement, and operational discipline
- Strong command of financial planning, cash flow management, and KPI-driven performance management
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
- CPA or MBA
- Experience in turnaround, restructuring, or performance improvement situations
Salary : $125 - $145
