Check us out at https://www.conectiv-scs.com/.Job SummaryResponsibilities include prospecting and development of carrier relationships, day-to-day negotiation of market competitive transportation pricing to support CGL’s customer shipping requirements and ensuring customer shipments are executed to CGL’s and the customer’s service level requirements. This role is pivotal for the successful ongoing growth of the CGL Brokerage business, and will work closely with CGL Sales, Account Management, and Carrier Relations in the overall development of our customer and carrier relationships with the overarching objective to help maximize the profitability of the brokerage operation. As a Freight Broker, you will be the tip of the spear for growth at Conectiv.The ideal candidate has/will:Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or transportation preferred or commensurate experience 2-3 years relevant experience, minimum 6 months – 1 year in a high-volume 3rd party logistics or Truckload Brokerage/Freight OperationStrong PC skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), web-based and Windows based software and databases and the ability to learn and utilize transportation management software (TMS)Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactiveBe quick on your feet and possess grit to overcome challenges and push forwardExceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and customer tiersDemonstrated ability to negotiate and “broker” truckloads for maximum profit to company and necessary service to customerManages difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needsAbility to prospect leads, heavy cold calling to build pipeline and strong account management to retain and grow carrier accountsManage, develop, build, and secure successful shipping and carrier relationships proactivelyActively monitor transportation market conditions, with emphasis on trends, events and other factors that may impact market pricing for TGL customer and our carrier partnersNegotiate and formulate a competitive and profitable rate to offer an outside carrier, assign trip numbers, send and receive signed rate confirmationsSupervisory ResponsibilityNoneWork EnvironmentThis job operates in the Freight Broker office environment.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and filing cabinets.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
