Lead Mechanic / Head of Maintenance

Concrete Polishing Restoration Company is a nationally recognized leader in high-quality polished concrete floors. Our success depends on well-maintained equipment and a reliable fleet. We are seeking a Lead Mechanic / Head of Maintenance to oversee all aspects of fleet and equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and reliability.

Job Responsibilities:

• Fleet & Equipment Maintenance: Diagnose, repair, and maintain company pick-up trucks (diesel), trailers, and specialized concrete polishing equipment (small engine), including grinders, burnishers, vacuums, and small hand tools.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement scheduled maintenance programs for all mechanical equipment, including belt inspections, fluid level checks, filter replacements, greasing bearings, and repairing/replacing worn parts.
• Electrical & Welding Work: Install electrical wiring, switches, and controls on grinding equipment and small engines; welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Emergency Repairs & Field Work: Respond to emergency maintenance requests, which may require travel to job sites to conduct repairs or equipment swaps.
• Inventory & Parts Management: Track, order, and maintain stock of necessary supplies, tools, and repair parts. Coordinate with vendors for timely restocking.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all equipment and vehicles adhere to industry safety standards and regulations.
• Training & Support: Provide guidance to the team on proper equipment use and maintenance best practices.
• DOT Compliance: Conduct and oversee DOT annual inspections, ensuring all vehicles meet federal and state regulations. Maintain compliance records and oversee electronic log (ELD) use.
• Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance (trucks, trailers, small engine/construction equipment preferred).
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems; welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Certifications: Technical certifications preferred but not required. Ability to demonstrate proficiency with hand and power tools for mechanical repairs.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DOT regulations and experience with annual inspections. Experience with Electronic Log Devices (ELD) is a plus.
• CDL License: Preferred or willingness to obtain is a plus.
• Travel Requirement: Ability to travel as needed for job site repairs.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, reach, and lift or move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
