Position Description
How does it feel to work on a team driven to make a big impact? Empowering. BAE Systems is seeking a senior level Safety Specialist to support at its site in Radford, Virginia. In this role as a Safety Specialist, you will be instrumental in supporting the site Safety programs. Included responsibilities: Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations. Work hand-in-hand with the operating units and maintenance to achieve 100% compliance. Pro-actively identify safety issues. Strive to minimize recordable injury rates by working collaboratively and closely with the SHE department and the entire Radford site. Work with a variety of safety related programs (LO/TO, Confined Space, hotwork, electrical, guarding, walking surfaces, risk assessment, DoD Regs for ARMY Contractors, etc.). Help disseminate the knowledge to the Radford team. Note: This position supports 100% on site.
Skills Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively disseminate information to a diverse population of employees. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and industry-related software applications. Able to support on-site, "boots on the ground."
Skills Preferred
Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment a plus.
Experience Required
Well versed in safety regulations, particularly OSHA. Experience in conducting incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Education Required
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a Safety related discipline with four (4) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent experience.
Salary : $40 - $46
