Greenhouse Technician

Position Summary

The Greenhouse Technician I will support daily greenhouse operations to ensure optimal plant growth and research outcomes. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work in hot and humid environments, and standing for extended periods. The technician will be responsible for plant care, greenhouse maintenance, and assisting in research activities while following safety, stewardship, and biosafety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general greenhouse tasks, including preparing pots/flats, planting, watering, fertilizing, tying/trimming plants, seed harvesting, threshing, and counting.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of greenhouse facilities and work areas.
• Assist in the collection of plant tissue samples for research purposes.
• Utilize data management applications to record and track experimental data under supervision.

Qualifications

• Education:
• High school diploma with relevant work experience in greenhouse/field operations, or
• Associate’s/Technical degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience & Skills:
• Prior experience working in greenhouse or agricultural field settings is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working in hot and humid conditions for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and responsibility.
• Basic computer/data entry skills for record-keeping.
• Ability to safely operate equipment, including forklifts (training provided if needed).
