Overview:
This is a structured, full-time opportunity designed to develop your skills in mechanical maintenance. Apprentices will complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT) while gaining hands-on experience, formal instruction, and mentorship from skilled professionals.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will earn an official Journeyman’s card and transition into a full-time Skilled Trades role in either the Assembly or Machining departments.
Duties:
- Performs maintenance and machine support tasks to keep equipment available and capable. Selects and uses appropriate tools, machinery, and specialty equipment, completing work with limited guidance. Learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment.
- Ensure Equipment Availability: Perform maintenance and machine support tasks to keep equipment operational and minimize downtime.
- Promote Safety: Actively report hazards, comply with HSE standards, and use appropriate personal protective equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
- Enhance Quality: Apply high standards of workmanship, support equipment uptime, and perform quality inspections to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Support Preventive Maintenance: Provide feedback and follow preventive maintenance protocols to reduce equipment failures and improve reliability.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep your work area clean and orderly, including routine housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks.
- Improve Processes: Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints, solve problems, and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with your team and support teams to ensure smooth operations and collaborative problem-solving.
- Engage in Training: Participate in formal training and personal development as part of the apprenticeship program to enhance your skills and align with business requirements.
Qualifications:
- Accredited 2-year Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Machine Technology/Repair, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in mechanical systems and manufacturing environments.
- Willingness to commit to the full duration of the 8,000-hour apprenticeship.
- Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift upon program completion.
