Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery
Location: Litchfield, MN
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights | 12-hour shifts | 3 shifts/week
Hours: 36 hours/week
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery for a 13-week contract. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a Critical Access Hospital environment and providing both Labor & Delivery and Medical-Surgical nursing care.
The ability to transition between OB and Med-Surg responsibilities is a key requirement for this position.
Schedule- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour night shifts
- Option for:
- Straight nights, or
- Rotating shifts
- Every third weekend
- Schedule flexibility based on staffing needs
- Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status and recognize changes requiring intervention.
- Perform patient assessments and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
- Assist with labor and delivery procedures.
- Provide postpartum and newborn care as appropriate.
- Administer medications and treatments according to orders and facility protocols.
- Provide patient and family education and emotional support.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond appropriately to obstetric emergencies.
- Provide nursing care to Medical-Surgical patients when required.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments.
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to healthcare providers.
- Assist with procedures and treatments within the scope of practice.
- Provide patient education and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records.
- Prioritize care effectively across varying patient needs.
- Current, active RN license.
- Previous Labor & Delivery experience required.
- Medical-Surgical nursing experience required.
- Must be comfortable providing both L&D and Med-Surg care.
- Critical Access Hospital or rural hospital experience preferred.
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently in a small hospital environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to rotate between L&D and Med-Surg based on facility needs.
- Ability to work every third weekend.
Salary : $2,400 - $2,700
