Key Responsibilities
Program Development: Design and implement a diverse, engaging activity schedule tailored to the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of our residents.
Resident Assessments: Conduct individual assessments to identify resident preferences, hobbies, and capabilities to personalize programming.
Department Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and work alongside activities staff and volunteers while managing daily department operations.
Administrative Oversight: Maintain accurate documentation, manage department resources, and fulfill all requirements set by the Administrator.
Required Regulatory Qualifications
Must be a qualified professional who meets at least one of the following state/federal criteria:
Licensed/registered as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional (or eligible for certification by a recognized accrediting body).
Has 2 years of experience in a social/recreational program within the last 5 years (including 1 year full-time in a therapeutic activities program).
Is a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
Has successfully completed a State-approved activity director training course.
Experience & Professional Skills
Experience: Prior Long-Term Care (LTC) activities experience required; supervisory/management experience preferred.
Certifications: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certified (ADC) preferred.
Core Competencies: Proficient computer skills, excellent organization, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Personal Attributes: Strong leadership demeanor with the patience, tact, and composure needed to handle stressful situations and work compassionately with residents, families, and staff.
