Overview:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting a broad range of accounting and finance functions, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and budget analysis. This role ensures accurate financial records, supports forecasting activities, and contributes to overall financial integrity and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting processes, including general ledger (GL), profit and loss (P&L), and balance sheet activities
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy by reviewing and correcting discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Oversee financial systems and reporting, including trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, AR/AP aging, payroll, and sub-ledger reconciliations
- Analyze financial results, monitor variances, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management
- Enhance efficiency through process improvements and automation of accounting workflows
- Ensure all supporting documentation (invoices, receipts, reports) is accurate, complete, and properly approved
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, payments, and reporting (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Lead month-end close activities, including accruals, prepaid schedules, and vendor account reconciliations
- Process Medicaid payments on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Conduct GL account and trend analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate depreciation
- Provide cross-functional support for accounts receivable, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and account reconciliation
- Ensure timely completion of all accounting activities in alignment with the financial close calendar
- Prepare and maintain accounting records and support the preparation of year-end consolidated financial statements
- Perform monthly variance analysis across expenses, transfer pricing, chargebacks, and rebate programs
- Monitor and control expenditures against budget, providing detailed variance explanations to support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage associated risks
- Support financial reporting requirements and external reporting obligations
- Coordinate and support audit activities, particularly for warehouse accounts
- Maintain state tax calendars and ensure timely filing and payment of obligations
- Support ongoing compliance initiatives and tax-related due diligence efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
- Minimum of 3 years of relative general accounting experience
- Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences experience preferred
- ERP system and Microsoft Office Suite experience is preferred
- Good communication, both verbal and written
