Status: Full-time (4 nights on, 3 nights off - Alternating - 3 nights on, 4 nights off)
Pay: $33,743 annual salary
The work:
Nights are quiet for most people, but they’re when some of our riders need us most. As an Overnight Companion Driver, you’re on call from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., engaged to wait at home, ready to roll when Dispatch calls. Some nights you’ll drive several trips, others you may not leave the driveway—but every night, you’re counted on, and every night, you’re paid.
This role is about being steady, patient, and reliable when the rest of the world is asleep. If you take pride in readiness and calm professionalism, this is where you belong.
What you’ll do
- Remain on call at home during your 12-hour overnight shift, sober and prepared to depart immediately when dispatched.
- Transport riders safely to appointments, hospital discharges, and urgent next-day care trips.
- Communicate clearly with Dispatch using our apps for routing, updates, and rider status.
- Assist and secure wheelchairs and mobility devices correctly, treating every rider with dignity.
- Keep your assigned vehicle ready: inspections, cleanliness, and simple maintenance reporting.
- Be the steady presence riders can rely on in vulnerable late-night moments.
You’ll be great here if you…
- Have caregiving, healthcare, security, or customer service experience where calm mattered.
- Are dependable and steady under pressure, especially when working alone at night.
- Handle last-minute calls without stress; you show up when the phone rings.
- Are confident with smartphones for navigation, messaging, and forms.
- Can assist with securements and ramps; with or without reasonable accommodation, you can regularly move up to 50 lbs and occasionally push or guide a wheelchair with an occupant.
- Care about safety and follow protocols because they keep people safe.
Must-haves
- Availability for overnight shifts (6p–6a) on a rotating schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (5 years).
- Age 25 to meet insurance requirements for company vehicles.
- FBI fingerprint background check and MVR clearance.
- Comfortable driving at night and on longer routes (up to ~100 miles).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- PASSING DRUG TEST INCLUDING MARIJUANA
Nice-to-haves
- Prior NEMT, EMT, CNA, MA, caregiver, or paratransit experience.
- Familiarity with HIPAA basics, defensive driving, or securement practices.
- Experience working overnight shifts in any setting.
Schedule & support
- Rotating overnight on-call shifts (6p–6a), shared across a two-driver team.
- Average 3–4 nights per week (alternating schedule).
- Home-based standby; company vehicle and fuel card provided.
- You will have high-level access to our software, allowing you to be self-sufficient in managing routes, reporting, and updates.
Pay & benefits
- $33,743 annual salary
- Paid training.
- Company vehicle and fuel card while on duty.
- Supportive team culture that values clarity and trust.
