What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Assistant position at Companion Animal Hospital?
Companion Animal Hospital is seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team! Our Kennel staff is dedicated to the care and comfort of our patients while providing critical support to the veterinary team.
In this role, you will focus on patient husbandry and care as well as general housekeeping duties throughout the hospital. You will provide meals and walks to boarding patients, administer medication, and monitor for any medical or behavioral concerns while providing detailed documentation about your observations. You will ensure kennels, common spaces and treatment areas are sanitized and well stocked with supplies.
In addition to core kennel responsibilities, this position offers the opportunity to cross train with our nursing team. You will clean and autoclave instruments, provide assistance during surgery and dental procedures, help to monitor anesthesia and help position patients for radiographs.
This position is ideal for those who are self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoy cleaning and organization, and are committed to contributing to a team-focused environment.
Schedule:
This is a flexible full-time or part-time position with 8-hour shifts and availability needed Monday- Friday and rotating weekends.
Full-time benefits and compensation**:
- Compensation: $16.90-18.00 per hour, for each hour worked*

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- Previous kennel or animal handling experience
- Commitment to a career in veterinary medicine with ongoing training
- Foundational knowledge of veterinary care including safe handling techniques and vaccination protocols
